Kilfenora Hostel Green Policy
Energy
Since February 2007 Kilfenora Hostel’s energy has been supplied by Airtricty.
Where possible our light bulbs are energy efficient.
We also use poster and stickers from the ‘Power of One’ campaign to make you the customer aware of how by turning off a light switch or power point you can make a difference.
Water
We have reduced our water consumption by lowering water pressure.
Waste
Kilfenora Hostel is committed to recycling and reducing waste. We recycle all paper, food cans, drinking cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles.
Glass jars are saved for local people making jam etc.
Egg boxes are kept for local people who keep hens.
Wine corks are kept for the local primary schools that get the kids to make notice boards.
Our print cartridges are refilled by ‘Cartridgegreen’ in Ennis.
Food Waste.
Where possible food scraps are given to the local gun club to feed their dogs.
Scraps such as peelings from vegetables are given to a local farmer and used as cattle feed.
Our Visitors
We encourage you, our visitors to be aware of the environment around you. Each area you will visit has it’s own unique imprint an imprint that has been here for thousand of years and one that has been enjoyed by millions of people non more important than the last. Each of us can make a difference by not leaving our imprint on the area ‘if it’s not broken don’t fix it’.
